Dalcroze Eurythmics

Eurhythmics is a methodology of music and movement education developed by Swiss composer and educator Emile Jaques-Dalcroze in the 1880s. The primary tenets of Dalcroze education are eurhythmics (rhythmic movement & active listening), solfege (developing internal melody and harmony), and improvisation (bringing out the creative spirit with the body).

The Delsarte System of Expression

The Delsarte System of Expression is a movement practice, developed by Francois Delsarte, that focused on the expression and symbolism of the body.

With its emphasis on gesture, the Delsarte System became essential to the early days of silent film acting.

Most of the drawn diagrams below come from "practical manuals" of Delsarte exercises, published in 1897 and 1902.
